Grading and Behavior Policy

Classroom Expectations

All students Grades K-4 come to Art once per week. Attendance and participation is very important because I only see your child once a week for 40 minutes.

Students in 5th and 6th grades will come to Art every day for a 9 weeks’ period.

Behavior Policy

In Art class, students will be expected to follow the same behavior policy outlined in the Danville School District handbook. Most behavior infractions follow the “Three-Strike” system as follows:

     Strike 1 – Warning

     Strike 2 – Time Out

Strike 3 – Detention and Contact parents

In extreme cases, the student will be referred to the building principal.

Grading Policy

A K-4 student’s grade in Art is based on effort, participation, and behavior.  Students who always try their best in every activity will earn a grade of S (Satisfactory) or otherwise earn N (Needs Improvement).

5th and 6th Grade students do receive grades based off the 10-point system. A student’s grade is based on effort and participation, in-class assignments, and assessments.

Homework

Use your creative brain every day. Draw every day. Draw what you see.
