Progress for students in Kindegarten will be communicated to parents with a standards based report card.  Skills taught are listed and assessed on report cards.  Students receive a plus mark (+) next to a skill that has been mastered or a minus (-) next to a skill that has not been mastered. 

Kindergarten Skills

1^st Nine Weeks

Language Arts

• Recognize letters Aa to Mm
• Know sounds Aa to Mm
• Write letters Aa to Mm
• Points with finger to follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page
• Identifies front and back cover of a book
• Identifies what an author and an illustrator does
• Writes 1^st name (capital letter at beginning only and name not written backwards)
• Sight Words (80%)

Math

• Sort objects by size, color, and shape
• Describe length and weight of an object
• Recognize numbers 0-5
• Write numbers 0-5
• Counts from 0-5 and one-to-one matching when counting
• Addition Fact Fluency (See Attached)

Science/Social Studies

• Identify the effects of sunlight on the Earth’s surface
• Identify the procedures for reciting the Pledge of Allegiance
• Identify ways weather affects daily life

**Your child must master each of the skills listed above in order to receive the “On Track Award” at the end of the 1^st nine weeks.

**To receive the “End of the Year On Tack Award”, your child must have been awarded ‘On Track” for each of the 4 nine weeks. (1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd, and 4^th).

Ciencia/Historia

• Identifica las maneras  que el clima afecta la vida diaria

**Su hijo/a debe manejar las habilidades mostradas arriba para recivir el reconocimiento de en Buen camino” al final de las primeras nueve semanas.

**Para recibir el reconocimiento de “Fin de año en buen camino, su hijo debe aber recivido el reconocimiento “En Buen camino” por cada uno de los 4 semestres (4 nueve semanas) (1^o, 2^o, 3^o, 4^o).
