The mission of the Danville School District and the Central Office is to provide support and leadership for the district’s schools to insure that appropriate instructional programs are taught in a safe environment allowing our students to become educated, healthy, and productive citizens.

Priority 1: Administrative Support
    Goal: To provide services and support in time, professional development, materials, supplies and funding to individual school personnel as they work to provide educational services to individual students in improving student achievement.
Priority 2: Safe and Drug-free schools
    Goal: All Danville public school students will be provided a safe learning environment so that they may reach their maximum achievement potential in mathematics and literacy.
Priority 3: Wellness
    Goal: The Danville School District will provide support for students in making Healthy Lifestyle Choices by implementing systems to aid in decreasing the average BMI on routine annual student screening and increasing collaboration between all segments of the school community in support of positive lifestyle choices.
Priority 4: Special Education
    Goal: The Danville School District will reduce the relative proportion of hispanic students to caucasian students receiving special education services to within one standard deviation of the state average by the end of the 2010-11 school year.
Priority 5: English Language Learners
    Goal: All students served in the Danville ESL program will demonstrate proficiency on the literacy and math Benchmark and End-of-Course Exams. For K-2 students, proficiency will be computed using state guidelines for converting norm-referenced test scores.

Priority 1: The Danville School District will provide administrative support in terms of allotment and time and financial support for teachers in the efforts of the district to ensure that every child achieves proficiency in mathematics and literacy, to reduce disproportionality of students receiving special education services.

ACTION BUDGET:$
The Danville School District will provide administrative support for the improvement of math and literacy scores through the use of a literacy instructional facilitator, curriculum coordinator and outside consultants. This action will ensure meeting as well as exceeding state requirement. The District will continue providing supplemental student instructional support through Title I for the purpose of improving students' math and literacy assessment scores. Compass Learning site licenses will be purchased to allow for additional lab time. OdysseyWare site licenses will be purchased to supplement student instruction both within and outside of the school day. Services of The Learning Institute will be purchased for interim formative assessments in math, literacy and science, core reading guides in literacy, science curriculum resources, and individual student interventions. The Danville School District will provide professional development, exceeding state requirement, to meet the needs of students and staff by expending professional-development funds on approved programs as identified in the rules governing ACSIP and in each school's ACSIP plan. The district will participate in the Arch Ford Educational Service Cooperative professional development consortium to insure a continuous source of highly quality professional development course offerings. Content specialists from Arch Ford will be utilized both at the Arch Ford location and in the Danville district, to provide ongoing support to teachers. Professional development funds will be used to pay registration fees and travel expenses.

ACTION BUDGET:$
The Danville Public School District will partner with the Western Yell County School District to provide an Alternative Learning Environment to meet the goals of eliminating traditional barriers to student learning and providing a non-traditional, flexible program to improve student achievement in the core academic subjects for students. An ALE bus (.5 FTE) will transport students to the WYC campus. ALE and NSLA funds will be used to purchase the OdysseyWare educational web-based software to be used by ALE teaching staff to enhance instruction to their students. OdysseyWare will be used both in the ALE classroom. OdysseyWare will also be used to enhance the regular classroom instruction, remedial instruction and out-of-school tutoring of Danville non-ALE students (exceeding state requirement). Professional development will be provided to teachers on the use of OdysseyWare instructional software. The goal for students in the ALE program is to re-integrate back into a traditional classroom environment and completion of the requirements to earn a high school diploma. The program evaluation will be the data showing the rate of successful high school graduation of ALE students.

    GoalAll Danville public school students will be provided a safe learning environment so that they may reach their maximum achievement potential in mathematics and literacy.
    BenchmarkIt is the goal of the Danville Public School District that all students perceive their school as a safe place in which to learn and achieve academically. There will be adequate yearly progress of students scoring below proficient on the ACTAAP mathematics and literacy state exams. Students not riding buses to school will have a safe zone of passage, including adult supervision of major street crossings. The precentage of parents participating in school activities and volunteerism will increase. The percentage of Danville School students participating in drug (and alcohol) use, bullying or fighting will be reduced.
    Intervention: A district school resource officer (SRO) will work with students with an emphasis on working with at-risk students and students in subpopulation groups so that all students are provided a safe and drug-free learning environment. Support during times of crises will be provided to students by the SRO who will also be available throughout the school day and year to provide support and safe-schools, safe-practices information to students.

    The Danville School District Nutrition and Physical Activity Committee will maintain updated district wellness policies--which will be approved by the district school board.     The district will provide training and support so that schools are able to provide a variety of resources, to include curriculum, instruction, supplies and materials, in order to address the educational needs of students including, but not limited to, the following subgroups: Alternative Learning Environment, Hispanic, LEP, ELL, Migrant, Economically Disadvantaged, and students receiving services under IDEA in order to remove barriers to learning. NSLA, and ELL funding will be used to pay a portion of a qualified paraprofessionals' salary (1.0 FTE) at the elementary school and substitute salary when necessary for data desegregation in math/literacy along with teaming interventions. ELL funding will be used to purchase equipment for use with ELL program including but not limited to computers with ELL students.
